TEch - Visuals
During worship
I obviously did not review the worship slides beforehand or would have noticed an extra line in the lyrics for "O God, Our Help In Ages Past." It may be somewhat tedious to go through each slide prior to the service to check for typos and other errors, but it does need to be done. Any notes you make regarding changes to song lyric slides need to be made to the master file on the computer in the sound booth.
I also had two lapses of concentration during the worship and did not change the slide in a timely fashion. I know that I have a tendency to look away from the computer for no reason and forget to change slides because I'm singing along and I know the words by heart. Gotta stay focused!
During the sermon
We tried something new this Sunday and used a video clip from youtube.com during the sermon as part of an illustration. Thanks to TW, who helped with the lens cap while I loaded the video, the transition went quite smoothly. The picture may not have been fantastic, but it gets the job done and was quite effective. It's important to note that if you are ever running the tech side of things when we do this again, go to the site and let the video load completely prior to service rather than clicking on the link when the video is needed. This will allow for smoother play of the video clip.
TEch - Sound
Sound seemed particularly good this Sunday. It was nice to hear the aux acoustic guitar (Welcome, Jake!) nicely throughout the music without being above the singers or overpowering in another way. The vocals were also mixed quite well. TW's voice did sound a little muddled when he spoke, but that might not have had anything to do with the mixing, and more with the fact that I was up front where it was loud.
Sound booth was on top of un-muting the congregational mic throughout the service. There was, however, one minor lapse during ministry time when TW's mic was not un-muted when he started to sing.
Overall, I would say it was a pretty great morning with sound!
It seems slightly weird to be critiquing myself, so if anyone has anything that I didn't notice, please comment so we can all learn from it!
