I try to keep up with Bob Kauflin's blog on a regular basis. If you're not familiar with Bob - he's the director of worship for Sovereign Grace Ministries and is responsible for the production of the Sovereign Grace cds, resources for music, training, etc. He's also the music pastor at Covenant Life Church. He has a blog that he updates once or twice weekly and he recently posted this article.
I'd encourage you to read it - shouldn't take you more than five minutes. Think about what he's saying in the context of our Sunday morning services. What we're aiming for are songs that "accumulate" rather than "erode." Most of the time, I think that we hit that nail pretty squarely on the head. But not always. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Bob's article.
By the way, I'm entirely unfamiliar with the artist that he mentions in this piece. Though I may have to check out the album.
