We've had some great comments and thoughts about this past week. Let's keep them coming.
But as we continue thinking about this past week, I want to fill you all in on this coming Sunday.
As I've mentioned before, we're finishing up the Hip Hop, Hippies, and Homeschoolers: Being all things to all men series this week. We began it by mentioning how music can serve to make our church context more accessible to those who have not experienced church in the same way (or anyway) as we have. We did one week that was a downtempo, coffee house sort of week ("the hippie week" Mary Andrus called it), and another week that was entirely traditional hymns. Since the series ended up extended and I did not have the time to develop thoughts and plans to incorporate two or three additional styles of music into the mix, we've more or less hit the pause button until this week. We're going to close things out by going with a rock format. It will, hopefully, be unlike anything we've done in the past.
Jake, I'd like to you study the electric guitar parts on all of these recordings and come as close as you can to reproducing them - or something original in the same vein.
Dianne will be with us this Sunday, which is a providential blessing.
I'm very excited about the possibilities here. Everything that we're doing this Sunday has been done before on a Sunday morning - perhaps not often, and perhaps not when all of you have been around, but it's been done. I'd encourage you to listen to each of the downloads/streams as much as you possibly can to familiarize yourself with the music before we gather on Sunday morning to practice.
As I mentioned in my thoughts about this past Sunday, if you're not on the team for this coming week, it would still be a huge help if you were able to spend some time learning these songs this week to enhance the congregation's ability to pick them up as we go.
So, all that said - here we have it. Let me know if there are any thoughts.

Tim,
would you post a refresher on who sings when... and maybe what week it is when you put the order of worship up - I know I should be able to count, but sometimes my brain doesn't want to work during the summer =)
