What a great morning! It seemed as though the Lord brought all of our hearts together around one central theme - the greatness of God's work in the cross and how desperately we are in need of it. It was a blessing to sing and play and to hear the words of Scripture and prophecy.
Ernie - fantastic passage choice. Thank you for your sensitivity to the themes of the songs and for how appropriate your selection was. It added to the flow of the whole morning very nicely.
Dick - great stuff. Once we nailed down how the new song was going to go, it came together very well. You held solid on the tempo and the transition from verse to chorus went nicely. At least I didn't notice any flubbing.
The piano was a bit of an adventure. It's been a very long time since I've lead anything from the piano and at no time was I ever very good at it. So, it was a bit of a work of faith to do that. But I think that, over all, it worked. A couple missed chords, and generally not as much quality as I would have liked. But, I think that the piano carries the emotions of The Power of the Cross much more effectively than does the guitar. All in all, I think I was pleased with it.
Speaking of that song, Amy, solid job on the solo. Very nicely done. Thanks for your willingness to jump in and do that at the last minute. And along with that, thanks for your willingness to listen and work on a few melody lines that needed some brushing up on a couple of the other songs. You had a spirit of humility this morning that was very pleasant.
As far as things that we could improve a bit. We had some communication issues between myself and the sound booth right at the beginning - before things got off the ground. Not sure what was the cause of that. But once we got up and running, we were solid. Great mixing and pretty much flawless on the mic cues, I think.
Dick, I'd say that something we should make sure of is once practice has stopped we should probably be silent on all instruments until we actually begin the service. I think it adds to some distraction right as we're about to get going if we're fiddling around a bit on any of the instruments. Silence, at that point, might be golden.
I sang the wrong chorus at one point during The Power of the Cross and I think it threw people off for a bit there. Not sure if Jonathan adjusted to me or kept us with the right way. But it was my fault - switched pages when I shouldn't have. I have a weakness in doing that at times. If there is a second version of the chorus, I'll frequently forget to move to that one and I'll just repeat the first. Generally speaking the visual person is more on top of his/her game with that than I am. Something I definitely need to improve.
I think that's all I've got.
Thanks all for your service. It was a joy.

PS. Please be praying. Dianne and I will be heading down to the Sovereign Grace WorshipGod conference this week. I am greatly anticipating a time of refreshment. Frequently these conferences are not so much a time for learning new things (though they are) as much as they are times to be awakened again spiritually. For those of us who lead every week they are a great blessing - being able to spend time in a congregation worshiping without distraction twice a day for three days is a wonderful thing. I pray that by the time I return for next Sunday's service I will be newly empowered with greater joy in God's goodness and grace, greater enthusiasm to praise, greater ability to lead, and greater grace to approach God's throne by his grace and for his glory. If you would pray for those things as well - in the spirit of this morning's message - I would tremendously appreciate it. Thanks all.

Both Lisa and I thought the singing time was great! The new song you led us in was wonderful. I assume it was a hymn since the date was 18something?? In any event it was very powerful.
I think the prophecies, especially Adam's, added to the dimension of the worship. His prophecy/heart confession brought a fresh awareness, clarity and joy to the power and glory of the gospel of grace. I thanked him for his humility and faith. Please encourage him when you all see him.
All in all it was a wonderful morning! Great job Tim in leading us and carrying such a major role in the building up of the people!
Grace,
Steve
thanks steve. that's very true - i thought that adam's word in particular was effective, humbling, and challenging.
thanks to adam for sharing with humility and grace. and thanks to God for the work he's doing.
Great job to all. Amy was brave and did an excellent job especially on the opening solo. The mood and theme of the service seemed to be well tied together. No doubt the influence of God the Spirit.
The confusion in the beginning was that I was focused on TW and the backround music which was playing in the backround was hardly audible in the back of the room. Sorry about that. 3 weeks out of the booth and my "rust" was showing.
On a side note, I know from time to time that we have lyric problems. Such things as mispellings, errors or omissions. Every Sunday at 9 AM I notice Brooke or whomever is at the computor, typing away like a mad man. In my last church, these displays, whether sermon notes, song or hymn lyrics were sent to the computor earlier in the week. Sunday mornings we simply downloaded them and we were ready to go. It took 45 seconds. Our computor in that situation, was "on line" and we could actually serf the web for lyrics for last minute changes at the end of a service. Perhaps we should look into tying a data line into our booth. T'Dub or Brooke, could this be done without any major cost?

John--good thoughts. It's not a major cost to get the booth computer online. It needs a wireless card which costs about $80 or so I think.
Most likely the main reasons why you would see us typing like mad fiends on Sunday morning is because we may have gotten sermon notes late, or there may have been changes to them, or there may have been a song change and we didn't have the lyrics in the computer yet, etc. etc. We'd need to get input from Jonathan on why that was the case this Sunday if it happened. The late sermon notes additions/subtractions is something that we will probably always deal with. But I'm sure we could clean up the lyric situation.
TW is right....no bangin' on the drums after practice and prior to worship...
Did not really nail the verse-to-chorus transition 'til the third tyme thru and then was late on the chorus repeat...
Goin' a bit unplugged was a good idea; always nervous prior to worship, but TW's ldrshp and much grace have a calming effect as it is all about Him...
Journey mercies to TW and Diane as they attend the SG Worship Conf...
